        Studies have shown that vitamin C may be beneficial for sun induced ageing, pigmentation, tissue healing and is essential for collagen synthesis. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein fibre which we know keeps skin plump and firm. So vitamin C can also help prevent premature ageing of the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. 

        It's an unstable molecule with unpaired electrons that are looking to pair up. These radicals search our skin for other electrons to stabilize themselves. However, by stealing electrons, they turn those molecules into free radicals too, causing a chain reaction that disrupts and damages cells.

        Antioxidants neutralise free radicals by donating an electron. This stabilises the molecule and breaks the chain reaction. 

        Antioxidants are not only supportive to free radicals but also to other antioxidants. For example, vitamin C and vitamin B can work in synergy, regenerating each other after neutralising the free radicals- double teaming against cell damage.  This teamwork also gives them the strength to survive for much longer, which means longer protection for our skin.
